How to Get Your Patient Card in Missouri:

Your first step to obtaining a medical marijuana card is seeking a doctor submit an electronic physician recommendation form to the state. This is needed to submit with the application for your medical marijuana card.

After seeing the doctor, you’ll register your account on the Missouri Medical Marijuana Portal(MMMP). This allows you to create/submit your new patient application, submit pictures of your documents, and pay your state fee.

Your one year license is $25 with optional home cultivation for $100.

After you submit your application, the state has 30 days to approved or reject. Recently the process takes less than 2 weeks. Once you’re approved, you can log into the state portal to print out or download your license. The dispensary will want to see this document along with your regular ID.

The state of Missouri cannot deny you a medical marijuana card because of any of your medical problems, but they can reject your application because of a typos, missing information and incorrect pictures.

If you receive a rejection, they will allow you to fix your application. DHSS will send you an email explaining why they rejected it and how to fix it. There will be ample time to correct any issues and re-submit your application.

Don’t Forget

Don’t forget to renew each year. DHSS will notify you via email up to 60 days prior to card expiring. You can submit your application starting at 30 days before expired. The state will not take payment before this time, but you can see you doctor if needed. The electronic physician form is good for 30 days.

Pediatric Patients

Pediatric patients are allowed in Missouri. Any child can receive a card with approval of doctor and parent/legal guardian. Once applied for the parent/legal guardian must apply for a caregiver card to purchase the medical marijuana.

*Missouri does allow for patients and caregivers to grow their own plants. They allow 6 plants per growing phase, which can translate to 18 total plants. 6 clones, 6 non-flowering under 14 inches and 6 flowering plants. There is a annual cost of $100 for this cultivation permit. You can apply at the same time as your medical card or after its approved. Keep in mind if you apply after you’re approved, it will only be good until your medical card’s next expire date.
